The class gathered around Grandmaster Lee and Master Buckley as the new 2012 World Tournament Poster was unveiled. It’s amazing! We can’t wait to get them hung in the schools so everyone can see for themselves.

A quick burst of Bok Fu Philosophy to start off your week. Instructors, you’ll recognize this paragraph from class Saturday!
“What we do not see, what most of us never suspect of existing, is the silent but irresistible power which comes to the rescue of those of us who fight on in the face of discouragement. What this power is, I cannot say. All I know is that it exists and it becomes available only when a man or woman is in that state of mind in which they know exactly what they want and are fully determined not to quit until they find it.”
Don’t Ever Let This One Thing Crush You And Your Dreams!
“When you make that choice, when you decide to turn your back on what’s comfortable, what’s safe and what some would call common sense, well that’s day one!”
Wishing all our Bok Fu Do Dads a very happy father’s day! And a very special thank you to a man that has been like a father to so many of his students throughout his 60 years in martial arts, Grandmaster Lee!

Here’s a small dose of Bok Fu Philosophy for your Wednesday!
“Do not ever let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do. Do not measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but by what you should have accomplished with your ability. As I said earlier, think always of failure as an opportunity to begin again more intelligently. Failure to prepare remember, is the same as preparing to fail. At this point in my life, I must tell you that I don’t have any fears of failures. I only fear the slowing up of the engine inside me which is pounding and saying “keep going, someone must be on top, why not me?” Success to me is having the peace of mind in knowing I have done my best. You will always have my best; what I ask of you is that I have yours.”

Wow, it was quite a day at our East West Schools on Saturday! We started out with two of our instructors, Ms. Lay and Mr. Greenwood, earning their green belts during testing in the Instructor class. Then we had our first ever belt board at East West Lafayette. There was a fantastic turnout of students that really put their all into their tests. Thank you for your effort and a big thank you to all the staff members that came for testing!
This is a very interesting article about movement. It’s dealing with a fundamental squat but it’s very applicable to our martial arts training and more importantly to the way we move throughout the day. The Missing Link: Movement as a Skill
